Amada’s LC3015F1-NT sets a new global standard for laser
cutting systems.

In keeping with its philosophy to match the optimal solution to the specific needs of each customer, Amada America, Inc. (Buena Park, CA) recently unveiled its LC3015F1-NT laser cutting system. In the words of Jason Hillenbrand, Amada’s laser product manager, “We gave the LC-F1NT Series new capabilities based on direct input from our customers. We have provided them with the ability to produce high-quality products as efficiently as possible with user-friendly and application-oriented capabilities. The LC3015F1-NT offers unmatched speed, precision and versatility—truly the next generation in laser cutting technology.”

The LC3015F1-NT is engineered to provide high-speed processing, ultra-precise accuracy, superior cutting quality and full-range capabilities. The innovative design of this new series also provides an extremely flexible, user-friendly layout in a remarkably small footprint. Featuring a 3-axis linear drive system, Amada’s no lens change technology plus ultra-fast piercing and cutting, the LC3015F1-NT takes productivity to a new level. Additional features such as Cut Process Monitoring and an automatic nozzle changer, enable the LC3015F1-NT to set a new global standard for laser cutting systems.

According to Hillenbrand, “High-mix/low-volume production, job interruptions, last-minute jobs and short-lead-time jobs—these demands are common in today’s competitive environment. Three-Axis (X,Y,Z) Linear Motor Drive

A key element in the new system’s design is a 3-Axis linear motor drive system, which allows for exceptionally high precision—enabled by true closed-loop feedback of the head position directly to the NC control. In addition, NC processing has been accelerated on the LC-F1NT Series, which makes possible a significant reduction in piercing time as well as running costs. Overall, the new system provides:
  • Faster piercing and cutting by using linear drives in all three axes
  • Superb cutting quality with sharp corners over the full thickness range
  • High productivity at lower running costs through Amada’s ECO cut process
  • Stable cutting and increased productivity using WACS™ (Water Assisted Cutting System)
  • Twin-Adaptive Optics to control the beam diameter for optimal cutting performance of thin- to- thick sheets, eliminating the need for lens changes
  • A cutting detection system to decrease mistakes by monitoring cutting
  • Flexible design options: a fully accessible enclosure and choice of
    right- or left-hand layout
  • The option of adding  an 8-station changer which automatically changes, cleans and calibrates the nozzle and head (based on cutting conditions)

 

High-Efficiency NC Control

An AMNC/PC NT-based (touch screen) control greatly simplifies the operation and management of the LC3015F1-NT. Frequently used functions such as Origin Return, JOG cut, Positioning and Nozzle/Head Replacement Position can be called up with one-touch operation. The control also allows the consolidation of functions and the ability to select optimum conditions for piercing, corner treatment, etc. Settings of up to 10 conditions each for material thickness and as many as 200 material types are permitted.

By incorporating an AMNC control on all of its lasers, turret punch presses and press brakes, Amada has created continuity which facilitates employee cross-training. When used in conjunction with the vFactory ® feature, management can monitor any of the Amada AMNC-controlled machines in their shop. This unique visualization tool seeks and collects data from a factory’s machines via the network—vital information that this system can process to help eliminate production bottlenecks. With it, users can you check the production status and processing state of each machine in real time. vFactory  is able to check a machine’s operating history, observe patterns between shifts, or determine the exact production time required per part or job. In short, with vFactory   shop management is given the opportunity to visualize their factory, troubleshoot problems, and eliminate them.

Automation in a Variety of Configurations

The LC3015F1-NT utilizes a cell system approach to automation—allowing manufacturers to select the configuration best suited to their production style, fabrication process and installation space. This system approach is designed to increase machine utilization for both high-mix/low-volume production and high-volume production. The cellular design permits expansion as future needs require.

Amada offers a full range of laser models from 1kW to 6kW that vary in design, configuration and automation options.
