Punching Subroutines

When gridding parts on a sheet, the system provides options that create subroutines (also known as macros). Choose from these four options to create subroutines: Common Tool, Start Subroutines, Grid X, or Grid Y.

Common Tool reduces the sequencing time by identifying all patterns having the same tool and minimizes turret time by optimizing the path for one tool across the entire sheet, thereby avoiding unnecessary tool changes.

Start Subroutines begins a subroutine, while Grid X or Grid Y closes the subroutine. To start a subroutine select all the patterns on one part (usually the ones that share the same tool) and then sequence that group of patterns across the entire grid of parts.

Notes: Parts on a sheet must be gridded before the subroutine options can be used. See Sheet Tab>Auto Grid and Grid.
